Here at the Winston-Salem Flower School, we truly believe that floral design is a form of art.  Learning about flower varieties, conditioning, mechanics, color, and techniques provides the framework to create!

While WSFS formally began in 2014, its roots were laid years ago when we were hosting garden club workshops in the first Amy Lynne Originals studio on Burke St.  Over the years, with each ensuing workshop, we were reminded how much we love sharing our expertise and were inspired by the creative designs of our students.

We realized that we wanted to be teaching floral design classes on a regular basis.  So, in 2014 when ALO moved into its new design studio on West End Blvd. we made it official and launched the Winston-Salem Flower School.

We have greatly expanded our Group Class offerings for 2016 and have added options for Private Classes and Flower Clinics as well.  We look forward to hosting you in the studio- come design with us!

Meet Amy

Amy Dunlap is the head designer and owner of both Amy Lynne Originals and the Winston-Salem Flower School.  Amy's passion for floral design began in high school when she got a job at a florist and greenhouse in her hometown of Hickory, North Carolina.  That job was the first of many years of hands-on floral design experience in which Amy learned the business from the bottom up.  After receiving her BS in Horticulture from the University of Kentucky and her Master of Agriculture from the University of Florida, she honed her unique design style at florists around the southeast, including time at the Grand Floridian Hotel and the Walt Disney World Florist.  After putting down roots in Winston-Salem, Amy opened Amy Lynne Originals, a special event florist, in 2005.  Since then she has been working with brides and corporate clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia to create beautiful, natural, floral designs to their special events.  Amy lives in Winston-Salem with her husband Jarrod and three children, Bella, Wes and Ike.

Meet Brooke

Brooke joined the Winston-Salem Flower School as the Director of Operations in 2015.  She handles the daily operations, including the website, social media, and blog, freeing Amy up to focus on teaching and design where she prefers to focus her energy.  Brooke has a BA in Art History from Wake Forest University and a Master in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Since joining the team she has enjoyed learning more about floral design and helping to grow the Winston-Salem Flower School.  She lives in Pfafftown with her husband Cameron, daughter Ada, and son Jackson.
